Dr. Carol Hillhouse

Dr. Carol grew up in Waco, Texas and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Canine and Feline). Dr. Carol graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. She was awarded the TVMA Companion Animal Practitioner of the Year in 2001. Her primary professional interest is canine and feline internal medicine, and her favorite part of practicing in the panhandle is being able to be an integral part of her patients’ and clients’ lives from puppy or kittenhood into their golden years. When she is not loving on your pets at the clinic, she enjoys knitting, geocaching, and leading her Girl Scout troops! She has many pets of her own including Rugen the cat, Wally the dog, Pete the parrot, and Kony the tortoise.


Dr. Joe Hillhouse

Dr. Joe was born and raised in Memphis, Texas. He grew up on a farm and around animals. He always wanted to find a job that he would be able to use the knowledge he gained from being raised on the farm, so being a veterinarian was the perfect fit! He graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984 with his wife, Dr. Carol. Two years later, they opened Carson County Veterinary Clinic in the panhandle. The High Plains Animal Hospital in Borger was purchased in 1998, and they continue to operate both clinics. Dr. Joe’s favorite part about working in the panhandle is having the opportunity to really get to know all of the families. He enjoys being able to socialize while he is helping his patients, both large and small. When he is not busy at the clinic, Dr. Joe enjoys outdoor cooking, leading his Boy Scout troop, and playing with his dog, Pocket. He is also a member of the panhandle Lion’s Club and is the former Director of District Eight for American Association of Bovine Practitioners.


Dr. Geneva Heinkel

Dr. Geneva Heinkel was born and raised in Ahwatukee, Arizona. She graduated from Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. She grew up her whole life knowing her goal was to become a veterinarian and help animals in need. She has a wide range of professional interests including bovine reproduction, small ruminant medicine, and small animal surgery! She is very excited to become part of a new community and work on animals whether they have paws or hooves! When not in the clinic you can find her working on her pottery, gardening or running. Additionally, she enjoys relaxing at home with her 150lb couch potato Great Dane, Scooby- Doo!


Dr. Ryan Miller

Dr. Ryan Miller grew up in Chandler, Arizona. He graduated from Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine and received the Boehringer Ingelheim Food Animal Practice Award in 2020. His professional interests include everything from first puppy visits to providing consultation and medicine to production animal herds. Ryan is most excited about the opportunity to bring value to the community through the best medicine possible and cannot wait to be involved outside of the clinic. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, and anything outdoors with his two dogs Diesel and Scout.


Cherie – Veterinary Technician

Cherie has been here 10 years, she has been married 17 years with 3 amazing kids (Ashtin, Ryan, Eva) 4 dogs (Luke, Moki, Murdock, Mara. 1 cat (Ratchet). When not at the clinic Cherie enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family.


Jessica – Veterinary Technician

Jessica is one of our veterinary technicians. She has achieved Level 2 as a Certified Veterinary Assistant. She has been working at High Plains Animal Hospital for going on 4 years. She was raised mostly in Borger, Texas. Her favorite part of the job is helping all the wonderful patients we see and all the great people she gets to work with. She and her husband have been together for almost 10 years. They have 5 pets, 4 dogs- Oakley, Leonitous, Paisley, Pete and 1 cat named Kitty! In her spare time, she enjoys aquarium keeping, playing with her dogs, and just relaxing.


Tiffani – Veterinary Technician

Tiffani is one of our veterinary technicians. She has been with us for 9 months now. She was raised in Fritch Tx, and graduated with her cosmetology degree from Wade Gordon. Her favorite part of the job is getting to love on all the new patients and all the great people she gets to work with. In her spare time, she loves to be with family, friends and playing with her two dogs Maggie and Daisy.


Michelle – Groomer

Michelle has been our groomer since 1999, has a degree in Animal Science, and loves all animals with fur, scales, or feathers. Michelle was born in Florida, raised in Alabama, and moved to Texas in 1984, where she plans to spend the rest of her life! Her favorite past-times are camping, fishing, candle-making, watching TV, and drinking wine!


Jaime – Receptionist

Jaime is one of our receptionists. She was born and raised in Borger and has worked at High Plains Animal Hospital for 10 years! Jaime loves to effectively communicate the needs of our patients and clients and strives to be a friendly face at the clinic. Jaime and her husband have been married for 6 years and they have 5 awesome kids. Together, they have 6 pets. 2 dogs, Boomer, and Star Buck; 2 cats, Ben and Jerry, and 2 chickens. In her spare time, (which is rare) she enjoys playing D&D, writing, reading, and spending time with her family!


Wren

Wren was born and raised in Stillwater, Minnesota. She graduated from West Texas A&M University with a Bachelors in Animal Science. She is currently working towards a Masters degree in Veterinary Science at the University of Illinois. Wren is an aspiring large animal veterinarian! When not at the clinic, Wren enjoys training horses, roping and tending to her herd of 6 dogs!


Brianna

Brianna was born in Borger and grew up in fritch. She’s always had a love for animals. She knew she wanted to work with them since she was little. She has been married for 1 year and has 5 dogs, 2 snakes and a hamster and sweet amazing daughter.


Emma

Emma was born and raised in Fritch, Texas. She has worked 6 1/2 years as a veterinary technician. She always knew that she wanted to do something with animals. Her husband and her have been married for 2 years and have a lot of 4 legged companions; there are 4 dogs, 6 cows, 4 horses and 11 cats between their home and barn. When she is not at the clinic she likes working out, coaching sports, gardening, hunting, riding horses, reading books and hanging out with friends and family. Her favorite thing about her job is helping all kinds of animals and meeting all the crazy animal lovers just like her.
